It’s the end of the weekend. Tomorrow is Monday and the start of another work week. But tomorrow also is ‘Blue Monday’.
The third Monday in January is supposed to be the most depressing day of the year. January is a tough month for those in the Northern Hemisphere. Christmas has just finished, it is actually getting colder and all the pomp, celebration and festivities of December have gone.
But the concept of ‘Blue Monday’ is bunkum. It was first published in a press release by a travel company, calculated from a formula based upon weather, debt level, time since Christmas and other dubious variables. It is now regarded as pseudoscience, and probably not even that. It is just another Monday, admittedly a cold Monday in a dark January.
So don’t succumb to the hype. Make the most of the day because the days are actually getting longer, the middle of the winter is not far away and spring is round the corner. I plan to try …
